Excellent Bike Tour of the real Rome

The real history and about the best spots to view and feel Rome… read more

We took the evening tour and were so glad that we took it, and the evening provides the perfect setting with the sunset. Simone was very passionate about Rome/Italy, about the real history and about the best spots to view and feel Rome. He does not take you to all the typical places, but if you really want to see a place he will take you there, as his route is a little flexible, but I’d suggest to leave it to him as he will take you to the best spots that you will miss otherwise. Expect good cardio as Rome is full of hills and if you want to have good views you need to go higher :-). Simone provides regular stops to catch your breath while also listening to the stories about the places you are visiting. He also takes you down narrow streets with restaurants on old Rome and it is such a wonderful experience biking through them. Our teenage son loved the tour too, even more than us. At the end of the tour he also gives you suggestions on food, places to visit and emails the list as well, which was also very useful. Would highly recommend this trip on the initial days of your visit in Rome. I’d do it again if we come back to Rome.

Best thing we did in Rome

Riding around the city on a bike made us feel almost like locals… read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our sunset bike tour with Lorenzo. We got to see areas of Rome we otherwise would have missed, and riding around the city on a bike made us feel almost like locals. It’s a bit silly to single out any part of the tour, because the whole evening was so wonderful, but I’d have to say that riding along the Appian Way and stopping under an arch of the viaduct was the highlight. Lorenzo was a great guide – knowledgeable and engaging and also good at shepherding our group of 8 across busy streets and around motorbikes and pedestrians. For anyone concerned about not being able to handle several hours of biking, you should know that this is not a strenuous workout. Although Rome is hilly, most of the tour is on fairly flat ground, and the climbs are long and gentle. There are also frequent stops for explanations of the sights. Of all the things we did in Rome, our bike tour with Free Bike Tours Rome is the one I’d recommend most highly.

Really enjoyed this tour! Simone was very informative and guided us to sights in Rome which tourists are less familiar with, but has great importance in Rome’s history! We were shown the birthplace of the city and heard some great information. The sunset bike tour is a perfect way to end the day and take some good pictures along the way! We can’t recommend this tour enough to people visiting. Thank you again!!

Our group of international visitors were treated exceptionally well by Lorenzo. He asked us where we wanted to go and made sure that we visited the most fascinating places, where we could return to the following few days and immerse ourselves in Rome’s incredible heritage, culture, art and archaeology. We learnt to navigate and orientate ourselves around Rome on bikes in a really safe way and we covered so much ground. The climax at sunset was breath-taking and we loved every minute of the entire experience!
